Short Story; Sorry, We're Closed

Hi! I'm Jake. And if you're reading this you probably wanna know what's going on in the picture above! I'm more than happy to share the story. It only happened a couple days ago. So, my friend Jack is a bit of a bittersweet character. He hardly ever smiles unless he's about to rip someone's head off...yeah...But! I swore to myself that i'd make him smile a true smile of joy and undeniable happiness even if it killed me. So here's the story.
It was 5:45am and I jumped out of my bed kicking the covers off my ankles and hopping over to my dresser. I grabbed and an armful of clothes and ran into the bathroom without even checking what I had gotten. I'm not even sure I turned the light on while I got dressed, but i'm so awesome I came out still looking amazing. Miss-matched socks, pants that I grew out of a full year ago and my lucky hoodie! Okay....so maybe not the BEST outfit but hey, I made it work. When I came out of the bathroom I grabbed my favorite goggles off my nightstand and put them on, pushing them up on my head. I had a drawer FULL of goggles and wear a different pair depending on my mood. Now let me explain something real quick, I NEVER get up at 5 am unless its important. Like, you can blow up the freaking moon, and if it's not gonna get in the way of my slumber or kill me, I ain't moving until 12 noon. But this was a special day! A very very special day. I crammed my feet into my sneakers and tied the laces quickly, running out of my room I flicked off the light in my room and shut the door softly. I went to the door of Jack's room and knocked rapidly at the wood, "Jack...!" I whispered, trying not to wake up the others that were sleeping. I heard shifting around inside the room a moment then the door knob clicked as a lock was turned. The door was pulled open and I was greeted by Jack's tired eyes and messy bed-head, he only opened the door enough to peek out. "What do you want?" he asked sounding like he was still half asleep. "Shake off those cobwebs, slap on some pants and comb your hair! We're going to town." I smiled brightly and he stared at me blankly. He didn't even have a shirt on. "What time is it?" he mumbled and leaned away from the door checking the clock that sat on his dresser.
"Why? Why the hell would-" before Jack could finish I busted into the room and the door cracked into his face. "No time to explain. Just, c'mon." I walked over to his closet and pulled it open. "This had better be important. " Jack growled and my hood was grabbed. I was dragged out of the room and the door was swung shut. I turned around and heard the lock click. For a moment I thought, then just stood outside the door for a few minutes waiting. Jack finally emerged from his room, he wore a long coat and pants that looked far too complicated but the first thing I noticed was that he stilled didn't have a shirt on. He flipped the hood up over his head and glared at me. I lead the way down the hall and hopped down each step in the stairway. Jack took one leap and soared over my head, he landed with a thud at the bottom of the stairs. I stared down at him and the buckles on his boots clapped together as he turned around and looked up at me. I sprinted down the last few steps. He was completely quite the WHOLE walk as we went down the road and walked all the way to town. He maintained a steady dry, blank expression. He didn't even ask where we were going. Well, he would find out why excitement nearly made me vibrate out of my skin. You see, tucked right outside of the farthest west corner of town was a small shop. Completely abandoned and almost falling apart. A cute little sign always sat outside of it with and arrow that pointed down the road in the direction of a coffee shop. Anyways, every spring, for ONE day and one day alone....that shop would flipping TRANSFORM! Like literally, before you EYES it would just change. Dont you dare call me crazy! I discovered it on accident only 2 years ago. And this would be my 3rd trip there, I was so excited and I knew i'd be able to put a smile on that stone cold face of Jacks.  When we arrived at the location the building was busted and in shambles. Jack stared at it. " I swear, there had better be a GOOD reason you woke me up and made me walk 3 hours to see THIS!" Jack kicked a hunk of stone and it pounded a few feet across the ground. "I guess we got here too early. But I didn't want to risk it, it only lasts an HOUR. Unless....we already missed it...." I whimpered as the pain hit my heart thinking I had completly missed out. "Miss WHAT? What is there to MISS? Tha last bits of this thing crumbling apart?" Jack stepped up onto the sidewalk and went up to the large bits of wall that barely were still standing.
Then it happened, it happened so quick but it was just as amazing as it would have been in slow motion. In an instant, bits of the rubble lifted up, shards of glass came together forming solid panels, gems appeared out of nowhere and lined a swirling silver board. The walls became whole and sparkled, the windows glicend and double doors formed, shined silver and white. Jack stumbled back, staring at the site and i was jumping up and down watching with glowing eyes. The whole shop came to life again, from hunks of brick and shingles to perfection. Deep brown wooden window shutters formed one by one in small flashes of light, and after everything had perfectly come together the finishing touch was added. A sign flashed on the right door that read, "Sorry, we're closed." and I KNEW it was only 15 more minutes until we could go inside and behold the glory! I was still jumping up and down when Jack turned to face me, his face still as stone cold as it was before, "Somone better be dying in there." Hw snarled. "No no no," I said quickly when he turned and reach for the door knob. "we have to wait till it's open to get in!" Jack sighed loudly and stepped away from the door. He turned and leaned up against the shop window crossing his legs. He seemed annoyed but I just KNEW it would all change once we got inside. I stepped up onto the sidewalk and sat down, part of me felt that the only reason Jack came along with me in the first place was because he wanted to keep an eye on me and make sure I didnt do anything stupid. Which is understandable. Since we met he always babysat me in a way, which i dont mind cause well, free bodyguard. Whose gonna say no to that? Plus, it wasn't hard to drag him into my schemes. As I sat there waiting in silence, a small butterfly landed on the sleeve of my hoodie. Its wings shimmered gold and I froze holding my breath. I didn't wanna scare the little thing away.....

I heard a small but familiar, "ting." I spring to my feet and swung around, the butterfly flew away and I looked at the closed sign, it now read, "We're Open!"
If you wanna read the rest of this story i'm sorry but you have to wait!
